Textile Figures

This is the first of three textile projects in KS3 which aims to introduce students to basic textile practices. These skills are developed and built upon in year 8 and at GCSE and BTEC. Students learnt how to draw from life models posing in sports poses. These drawings are developed into colourful designs using Henry Matisse’s work as inspiration. These designs are transferred to fabric and painted using fabric paint. A technique called adire is used to separate the colours. Students can further embellish their work by hand stitching into the design.
