If you followed the Yellow Brick Road in December it would have taken you to Bebington High Sports College for two sparkling performances of ‘The Wizard of Oz’. The recent production played to appreciative audiences on two consecutive nights and was most certainly well worth the wait!
The talented students put their all into this colourful show which took many weeks to rehearse and prepare under the direction of Mrs Murray and Miss McGough. A tremendous amount of hard work went on behind the scenes in making the costumes, designing scenery and applying stage make up.
The stage was awash with colour as Dorothy teamed up with a Scarecrow, the Tin man and a Cowardly Lion to discover the land of Oz and all its inhabitants, including the loveable muchkins in their amazing hats!
This was a true highlight of the school calendar year and was introduced on both evenings by a group of six dedicated handbell players, led by student Billy McQue and directed by teacher Ms Glanfield. The students had practised hard to enthral the audience with their rendition of well known Christmas carols.
Our thanks go out to all the staff and students for making the performances worthy of acclaim and demonstrating why Drama, Dance and Music are such an important part of Bebington High Sports College.
