In July, 15 students and 2 members of staff from Bebington High Sports College will travel to Kenya for 4 weeks with “Camps International” which is an organisation working in Kenya aiding the building of schools, providing water, protecting wildlife and enhancing the lives of people through a wide range of projects. The students will have to face many challenges in Kenya but will be rewarded with life changing experiences.
Student at the school have collected sports clothing- shorts, T-shirts, socks etc to take to schools in Kenya and are looking for sponsorship so that it can be sent securely to Kenya by excess baggage.
Each student needed to raise £3,300 in order to travel to Kenya and provide funds to finance these projects. Individually over the past 18 months the students have saved their own money, had jobs, arranged sponsorship and been supported and encouraged by families, friends and staff at the school. However, some students are still struggling to find money as along with the cost of the trip there is clothing, equipment, visas, inoculations and malaria tablets to be paid for and are looking for any help or sponsorship from local companies or individuals.
Also, they are trying to find the most economical and easiest way to travel to Heathrow and back, and are looking for the help of a local coach or bus company if possible.
The students have raised money by bag packing at Sainsbury, Asda, and M&S and are extremely grateful for their support as well as from other businesses such as “The Horse & Jockey”, “The George”, “The Acorn”, “The Chronicle”, Unilever, WH Smith, Bargain Booze, Tesco, Europa Pools, Marmions, Vue Cinema & McDonalds who have donated prizes for raffles and also MSOL for a donation of a computer.
