Bebington High Sports College are yet again actively promoting healthy eating within the school. With the success of the TV show Ready Steady Cook, they decided to hold their own version of the show called ‘Get Set Cook’.
Chef Mr Darren Tinkler from Scolerest held an exciting event at the school on the 10 July 2008, it was staged in the Main Hall in front of the Year 7 and 8 Students, with the aim of promoting healthy menus and cooking with fresh ingredients.
Headteacher Mr Jordan headed up the Red team with Yr 7 students Ryan Jones and Emily Davies who created from their ingredients chicken on a bed of rice, with a ragu sauce, wilted spinach and scallion onions. The Green team headed by teacher Mrs Rickers with Yr 7 students Billy McQue and Zoe Hawkins, created a spicy vegetable Balti with a side dish of bombay potatoes.

Answering questions, food tasting and voting for their preferred dish, the fun filled hour included all students actively participating. They interacted well with the chef and cheered on their favourite team.
The competition was a great success with Mr Jordan’s Red team winning the final vote from the students. Bebington High Sports College students enjoyed the event so much that the school now plans to host a Master Chef competition in the near future, building on the enthusiasm that the students have shown.
