Year 11 students from Bebington High Sports College, recently had an insight into different cultures and religion during a visit to the Princes Road Synagogue and the Metropolitan Cathedral, in Liverpool.
The Liverpool Old Hebrew Congregation, which is a friendly, Orthodox Jewish community, at the heart of Liverpool, was an exciting episode in their cultural education. The synagogue is the first Grade 1 listed synagogue outside of London and the students gained improved knowledge of the Jewish faith, whilst taking active parts during role play at the synagogue, which is steeped in tradition. The students then saw the contrast between the Metropolitan Cathedral, which is affectionately called “Paddy’s wigwam”, with its more modern architecture and magnificent rainbow coloured stained glass windows and experienced worship first hand.Higher Bebington Road, Bebington, Wirral, CH63 2PS•Telephone: 0151 645 4154•Fax: 0151 643 8065•Email: schooloffice@bebingtonhigh.wirral.sch.uk
