Two budding solicitors from Bebington High Sports College received an insight into courtroom skills recently, during a visit to Liverpool.
The Year 10 students, Abdul and Shuhel Miah, were the youngest members of a group of students, mainly made up of sixth formers from different schools, who spent the day at the Law Courts experiencing what it would be like to be a Solicitor or Barrister and what questions or techniques are used when defending a client.
The students sat through two mock cases during the course of the day, one acting as clerks of the court and one as part of a Jury, whilst a real Solicitor asked questions to a defendant.
Then a decision then had to be made by them, after listening to the evidence and considering the case whether they thought defendant was innocent or guilty.
This was a very interesting day for the students, who enjoyed the buzz of the courtroom environment. It also helped to clarify to them what career path they would like to choose for the future.
