Two sisters Ola and Agata Potoka from Bebington High Sports College are true Volleyball Athletes of the future.
Ola who plays for an Under 14 Wirral Girls representative team, recently took part in the North West Under 14 Girls Volleyball Championships at Fairfield School, Tameside on Sunday 7th March.
Ola was in a team of four with girls from Wallasey School and Pensby Girls who took part in the competition against fifteen other teams from all round the North West. With Confidence and teamwork they rose to the challenge and the dynamic Wirral team stormed through winning their qualifying pool.
Volleyball involves both, athletic ability plus emotional and intellectual development and the girls had plenty of this, sailing through to the semi-finals, however they were then unfortunately knocked out by the eventual winners Tameside A who sadly outshone them on the day.
Following the competition Ola has been asked to attend a trial to select a North West representative team on 28th March and if selected she will play for the North West in Volleyball, for England's National Inter-regional Championships in Kettering on 1st & 2nd May.
Ola’s older sister Agata took part in last year's Inter-regional championships, playing for the North West Under 16 girls volleyball team and due to her eye-hand coordination and quickness has a very good chance of being selected again for this year's squad.
With this in mind hopefully Bebington High Sports College could shortly have two girls, in different age groups chosen to represent the North West.
