Last week at Anselmians RUFC, 13 students from Bebington High Sports College recently participated in the annual Rugby Finals, competing against other students from schools who qualified from the Wirral Floodlight Tournaments.
The finals were played in a ‘Round Robin’ league format, with Bebington High SC securing victory after playing a series of matches resulting in 5 wins and 1 draw.
Captain, Kyle Harrison, was instrumental in the squad’s success, but it was Ben Glover who achieved Bebington High Sports Colleges Player of the Tournament.
Team coach Mr Ian Murray commented “I am extremely proud of the players; they have displayed tremendous character all season, and thoroughly deserve their success”. The number of pupils playing rugby in the local community is growing each year, which is tribute to Bebington High Sports College’s outstanding school-club links. The standard and quality of rugby played was astounding and a testament to the tremendous work of the teachers and coaches of all the schools who took part.
The year 7 & 8 squads are now looking forward to defending their title, and travelling to Ireland on a Rugby Tour in 2010.
