North West Volleyball Stars

Two sisters, Ola and Agata Potoka from Bebington High Sports College, were the only girls from Merseyside that were selected to represent the North West region in England's Volleyball Inter-Regional Championships. The Championship is volleyball's biggest national junior competition with representative teams from nine English regions and Wales, was held at volleyball's National Centre at Kettering over two days - 1st May & 2nd May.

Agata played for North West girls Under 16’s team alongside girls from Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire while her sister Ola played for the North West Under 14’s B team (regions enter A and B teams in this tournament).

Agata's team won the Under 16 event, to become the North West 2010 Inter-regional champions beating teams from Wales, the North East, East Midlands and London in their qualifying pool. They then went on to beat the South West team in the final competition, a very close match which went to three sets with the North West just beating the South West at the finish - set scores 15-25, 25-19, 16-14.

Ola's team also got to the final in their pool, but lost to a strong Yorkshire team in the final - set scores 10-25, 25-18, 11-15.
